Happy Halloween

We had our annual wars trunk or treat and chili cook off yesterday. I’m perennially not prepared for Halloween. I get my kids costumes, but I never get around to one myself and we don’t have decorations for our trunk. It’s a chronic problem, lol. But this year, this year I broke the trend! 😂 I picked up some decorations weeks ago for my trunk and actually had some forethought and got myself a costume to match what Bill was going to do. Which he didn’t end up doing, but that’s okay.

Spencer was going to be a soccer player and last minute changed his mind. Grandma came through clutch with a pair of costumes that Spencer and Bill wore. What is he? The color black. A currant. Who knows. But he loved it.
Genevieve had quite the time finding a costume. She’s too tall for kids costumes and too short for adult ones. She wanted to be a blowup dinosaur that she was going to bling out and we bought two and neither worked. Then she switched to a blow up shark, but same problem. So instead we found this amazing shark blanket onesie thing and she was in heaven.
Her bestie came along and came and hung out at our house after. It was so fun.
Aaron went as a rainbow unicorn blowup. His costume was less comfy in practice than just at home, but I’m so amused that he picked it. He took it off as fast as he could.
Chloe went as a witch. She’s my only kid who is still interested in Costco costumes. So we got hers probably two months ago and it was so cute.
Bill asked all the kids what they were, or complimented them on their costume as they came through and then would ask them what he was. The answers were so funny. A lot of Violet from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory but they didn’t want to say that because they didn’t think he’d dress up as a girl. I heard a plum offered up. But no, he was a grape. 😂
Bill was going to be a knight, so I got a queen costume. But he didn’t finish it, so that’ll be for another year. So it ended up I was a queen and I had all my subjects with me, lol.

Genevieve and I made a cookie run Friday night. Our realtor always sends us Crumbl cookies, which we love. I never actually buy them. Between Bill’s parents and us, we get them a lot from him. So this was a first. We went and got a box of Crumbl cookies and brought them home and ruthlessly devoured them, lol. She took this beautiful picture of the moon on the way out.

Oh wow, the weather changed overnight this week. Wednesday it was warm, high 60s. Thursday it snowed in my way to work and it was 39 degrees at run club that night. Winter is here! It was 24 degrees this morning before church. Thanks, Utah! I actually love winter but it’s a little crazy to realize it’s going to be cold like this for the next four and a half months at least.

Bill and Spencer went fishing Saturday. Spencer is super interested in hunting and fishing right now. We’re slowly getting setup to be able to take him out and it’s fun. It was so cold in the morning and they didn’t catch anything. So basically a pretty normal first fishing trip, lolol. I think it’s a fun interest he’s developed. He and Bill are going to their hunter education course in a couple weeks. Then they can try out hunting. I’m excited for them. If he stays interested, maybe I’ll go sometime too.

Halloween fun

We headed over to see Barbie Land and the Harry Potter house in Daybreak last Sunday. It was fun. Such cool decorations.

Fall concert, end of soccer

I got tired of my bed frame we’ve had for about four years when one of the legs started to get loose and it started squeaking. Plus, it didn’t match in my room with the way I painted the accent wall behind our bed. So I bought a new frame, this time just a plain metal one, no headboard to start. Bill took the old bed frame apart and we discovered the leg was just loose and was fine once it got screwed all the way in. Hahahaha! Good thing that’s not the only reason I replaced it. After we sold the old frame and swapped in the new, I decided to get a headboard pillow. It’s basically just a wedge pillow that’s king sized. It’s so stinking soft and cushy. I’m a fan.
It’s Spencer approved.

Speaking of Spencer, he had his first band concert. I’m already impressed with his band director. It’s his favorite class. He’s playing the trumpet.
My mom got a new console table and despite coming from Amazon, it came flat packed like from IKEA. I laughed at the description on it some assembly required. They put the glass in the doors and that’s it! 😂 I spent a couple hours helping her put it together. We ran out of time to attach the doors, but she was able to finish it the next day. It was nice to spend some time with her. ❤️❤️

We did team soccer pictures yesterday. It was Chloe’s last game and Genevieve has just one more. It was a cold morning for soccer! We stopped during Chloe’s halftime to check out the eclipse.

Fall colors

Latest paint by number done, wrapped, and hung in my office.
Genevieve did some decorating for Halloween outside our house.

Science in action at run club. 😁 My light was blue, and my friends had green and red. All three of those make white! We’re runners and we’re also so nerdy. 😁
First time we’ve turned on the fire pit in so many months. Yay for fall!

We picked up Mom and headed up Big Cottonwood Canyon and drove over Guardsman Pass and down into Parley’s Canyon to see the colors. They were breathtaking, as I knew they would be. I’ve been enjoying them every time I drive to work for two weeks. The colors in Parley’s are faded now, but they were so vibrant higher up. I didn’t start taking shots until we started going over Guardsman, so I didn’t get any of the reds and oranges, but oh wow, those were nice too.

I’ve never seen orange tips on aspens. So pretty.

Fall is in the air

General Conference was this weekend. I’m super excited that a temple was announced in Colorado Springs! And Huancayo, Peru, where Bill spent a lot of his mission. I made Genevieve and Chloe each another friendship bracelet. Waves for Chloe.

Watermelon for Genevieve.
Suzanne was out of town. She usually makes us caramely caramely conference corn. Bill stepped in to fill the gap.
Chloe is learning to braid, apparently. She wanted me to take a picture of this “braid.”  She might need a little more tweaking on her technique, lol. I love that she’s learning.
Genevieve made a bunch of Halloween decorations with hot glue. A teeth garland.

Spiderweb.
Hand and essence of gelatinous cube.
Frog brain and goblin liver.

A very huge moon after a trail run with my friend on Friday.
