Spring is waking up ❤️❤️

I planted this planter lasagna style in the fall with bulbs and they’re starting to come up. I’m so excited to see what they end up looking like. 

Bill took Genevieve to get a western bacon cheeseburger from Carl’s Jr. they accidentally made it a double. It was huge! She still ate the whole thing, lol. 

Everyone loves our cat Freya, but they adore Remi. She’s very well socialized, so she is happy to be touched and loved. She wants to be around all of us and is super fun to play with. If you get close to her, she’ll boop noses with you. It’s adorable. These sorts of scenes are just so cute. 

More Book of Mormon challenges. It’s such a fun activity for Spencer and Genevieve. 

This bush in front of our house this summer was so bland. It’s not the most amazing shape and the leaves were just all right to look at. So I was absolutely floored the other day when I walk outside and see this. I had no idea it was a magnolia and would have such beautiful blooms. I just may work on shaping it instead of changing it out now! 

Spencer and I did some work in our yard yesterday. We took out a bunch of plants I don’t like. We used some of the rocks lining the side of the yard to fill a planter box that was left by the previous owners. Thanks guys! They left a big log too and we used that to fill up the space too. We want to put a ton of plants along the side yard, so we won’t use all those rocks.

Spencer was such a great worker! He got out some sage and a couple yucca and some other plants that were just not that pretty. 

My brother’s partner gave us this monstera that needed some love. It was super root bound and in too small a pot. Bill tackled it and he untangled all the roots and let them spread out in a giant new pot. We found a use for a piece of rebar Bill has had for years and years and always thought he wanted to use. It’s got a coating on it and it’s just floated around as we’ve moved across the country twice. It’s absolutely not hoarding if you eventually use it, right??? 😆😆

Chloe redid the flowers in her bedroom vase as well as the vases in the entryway. I love that she’s doing that. 

Spencer had a conference last week. They did a beautiful job. He’s on the back row in the shadow.

Welcome March

 My kids are doing a Book of Mormon reading challenge at church and the ward leaders are doing the most amazing job with all the activities and challenges. Several Sundays a month they do a scripture reading breakfast. Tonight they’re going to a book shop for a special fireside. It’s really cool. 

Yesterday I did a fun backyard ultra sort of run that a group here in Utah hosts, the Oquirrh Foundation. It’s called the O.U.Ch. Run. It stands for Oquirrh Ultimate Challenge. It’s a 7-mile loop in Yellow Fork Canyon. You go up one side of the canyon, go over the top, summiting one of the peaks, and then come down the other side. You can do as many loops as you want. My run club friends ran various number of loops. I was supposed to clean the church at 8am, so I planned for one loop. I left at about 5:45am and it was still dark. I ran it last year and I’ve hiked in this canyon, so I know the area, but as I left I headed up what I thought was the right trail, but wasn’t. I basically headed straight up the middle of the canyon, gaining elevation immediately instead of gradually, and it took me up a different peak than the run course. I realized it pretty quickly as I chatted with a couple friends that I was going to meet up with a bit later. My friend gave me instructions how to drop back down onto the route trail, but I never saw that trail and I kept going straight up the mountain. I ended up texting them and said basically, whoops, never found the trail, I’m having a delightful time, maybe see you sometime! Haha! I had a truly delightful solo hike up and run down. The trail was way too steep to run up, so I just hiked fast and listened to my latest audiobook and it was beautiful. I don’t remember the last time I took a solo hike. It’s glorious. This was the sunrise as I hit the peak I summited. 

And here’s photos I took when I found my friends nearly back to the bottom. I found my way back to the trail eventually, but did some post holing as I came down off the peak and went on a trail that was completely covered with a couple feet of snow. Honestly, it was such a fun little adventure. 

I ended up running/hiking 7.85 miles. I absolutely missed the church cleaning, but thankfully Bill and the kids had it covered. I got off the mountain at about 8:40. I spent the rest of the day doing nearly nothing, which was the most delightful way to spend a Saturday. We have so much going on all the time. An occasional chill day is wonderful. 

Genevieve made the coolest little clay animals this week. She painted them yesterday. They’re so stinking cute. Frog, fly, and a little candle she made and filled with a tea light she melted down.
