We had a great Halloween this year. It was such a fun week. We started off the week with a Halloween Driving Scavenger Hunt through Bluffdale. The weather was crazy that night. So windy and cold and rainy.
Tuesday we went to a trunk or treat at Grandma and Grandpa's church. It was fun to see all our friends.
One day this week our realtor, Dave, brought us this amazing water color. Such a cool gift! He is the best realtor ever.
We carved and painted pumpkins Thursday after going to Spencer's last soccer game of the fall season. That was a weird one. It was rescheduled and it ended up being on a smaller field than they play on and it was so overcrowded. Always fun to watch him play soccer, though. No blood was spilt in the carving of these pumpkins, so I'd call it a huge success.
Friday I went to the school for their Halloween Parade. It was so cute. It's really fun to have events happening again and to be around people. Aaron is Thor. Spencer did the Grim Reaper. Genevieve is a medieval princess or Merida, since everyone mistook her as her, rightfully so, Miss Redheaded princess, haha! And Chloe was Elsa. Queen Elsa, not to be mistook for Princess Elsa. She was very particular about it, lol.
Friday night was our ward's trunk or treat. So much fun! Bill went as Nacho Libre. I scrambled and got a cat costume but I have plans for two costumes for the future so I won't have to scramble every single year to come up with something, lol.
Chocolate cream pie. So delicious. It was completely gone at the end of the pot luck trunk or treat. There were so many pies but people knew goodness when they saw it, hahahahah.
Saturday we started the day bright and early with a Halloween race in South Jordan. It was awesome! The younger kids ran a half-mile race, and Spencer ran a 3/4-mile race. They all did awesome. Genevieve led the half mile for a while but got a horrible cramp so that hampered her, but she caught up with me and Chloe at the end. Both Aaron and Chloe ran the entire way. I was so impressed with them. Bill and I ran with them and it was just really fun.
Bill and I actually took the kids home and then came back and ran our own 5K. We ended up doing really well! We came in 16th and 17th overall. I won my age division and got 4th overall for women. Bill got second in his age division and 14th overall men. We both ran lots faster than we regularly do, so that was awesome. I just love racing so much. After that we swung by the parents' house to finally pick up our kayaks. We had planned to put them on the top of our van but we had super limited time to get back in time for trick or treating, so we did this amazing thing and it totally worked with room to spare on top! Three kayaks in our van at once. Plus 20 2x4s underneath for some garage shelves. So fun! And now my garage is full again, hahah! But when I build those shelves it will be much better!

And last but not least, the main event! Trick or treating in our neighborhood! Spencer went with friends and I never did get a full picture of his costume. But he had a fabulous time. We took the other three and got hoards and hoards of candy. It's pretty ridiculous and my kids are thrilled.
We stopped halfway to eat dinner and Aaron had no interest in going out again. So Bill took the girls and Aaron and I ran a quick errand up to Harbor Freight to buy a sweet workbench that I'll assemble sometime and show off. And then we came back and watched Halloween cartoons until everyone came home. I eventually picked Spencer up and we all went to bed so, so late. Good times. A successful Halloween all around!
As I said, hoards of candy. :D
