Fall Break vacation weekend

We are having the absolute best time on our fall break vacation. 😍 Yesterday morning we started the day with Genevieve’s last soccer game. They finished off the season with a 1-0 win as the very first cold day of fall FINALLY came. It was so blustery and cold! I’ve been waiting and waiting for the cooler temps and they finally came. I’m maybe the only person excited for real fall, lol. I love the colder weather and snowy mountains and occasional weathery days.

Rather than enjoying the day, what we actually did was pack up and raced the storm out of town, heading south. First stop, Fillmore for a delicious late lunch at a drive in Bill’s dad told us about. It lived up to the recommendation.

Next stop, Las Vegas and Great Grandpa’s house and then Grandpa’s condo. It’s always wonderful to visit Bill’s grandpa. And Doug and Miriam are so nice to let us crash with them. The condo is nice! We swam at the pool and had grilled cheese and tomato soup with Grandpa and Miriam and then slept so well.

Today we took the kids down to Hoover Dam. We went on a three-mile walk down a railroad trail to some tunnels and back, with beautiful views of Lake Mead the whole way. We scared ourselves silly walking out on the Hoover Dam bridge. We made the very wise decision to only drive across the dam instead of walking along it for another scare. The walls in the sides of it are not anywhere near tall enough to make me comfortable walking with my kids on it, ha! Parenthood is like that, right??

I love how the sun makes Genevieve’s hair glow.

Saw a coyote!

This bridge is just way too high.

We took a tour of the Ethel M. Chocolate Factory and ate some delicious chocolate and bought some more. We wandered the cactus garden next door.

Loved this cactus garden.

We took the kids over and watched a couple of the water shows at the Bellagio fountains than walked all the way up to see the boat at Treasure Island and back. That was a crazy walk! Fun and ridiculous and full of energy as only Las Vegas can be.

And then tonight we visited Great Grandpa again and hung out with Grandpa Doug all night. More adventures to come this week! Already the best vacation.  πŸ˜πŸ₯°πŸ˜πŸ₯°πŸ˜πŸ₯°πŸ˜
